Washington County Children Services has teamed up with Eve, Inc. under a grant from the Office of Criminal Justice Services to offer information and training to families to reduce family violence.  One portion of the grant allows us to provide 1-2-3 Magic Parenting Classes to the community while another portion has a children's component.  The children will be learning to recognize possible dangerous circumstances and how to protect themselves through a program called Child Lures.

1-2-3 Magic offers techniques on how to discipline children without spanking, yelling or arguing.  The program will assist parents in controlling obnoxious behaviors, encouraging good behaviors and also help parents build strong relationships with their children.

The Child Lures program will show children how some people may try to trick them into a dangerous situation.  The program discusses important concepts such as what a "stranger" really is and rules such as not going into the home of someone they do not know as well as on-line safety for older children.  That is just the beginning of this important program.

If you are interested in more information about these programs, please contact Washington County Children Services at 740-373-3485.
